Hello!
Introduced myself before but have finally taken the plunge and bought a (new to us!) Eldiss Avante 636, twin axle, 2006 model. Has anyone got one of these or have any experience of one?
We are a large family of 4 children and 2 dogs. I've also purchased a new awning also.
Look forward to asking you all thousands of silly questions!

Hi Kirsten, welcome to the dark side. I have an Elddis but not as big or as new as yours, actually mines probably about half the size but it serves me well. Ask as many questions as you like there is always someone to share there knowledge. I know I've had a lot of good tips off this site.

Congratulations on your new purchase. One of the questions that people ask regarding twin axles is the levelling procedure as it's not as easy as driving up one ramp with a single axle caravan so it may be wise to search for previous threads on this issue as you can gain some valuable knowledge especially as novices. You will need to get the caravan level to ensure that the fridge operates effectively and allow proper drainage of waste water from the sink, washbasin and shower. Also, avoid levelling the caravan with the four steadies as they are fixed to the caravan timber floor and not the chassis so any excess pressure is likely to twist the frame resulting in interior doors not being able to close. Hope this helps for starters but feel free to ask for advice as there is plenty of good advice on this forum. Good luck and hope you enjoy your maiden trip away.
Thanks Rose and Tango for that great advice, I will certainly research levelling and make sure OH reads up on it also.
Towing wise, we should be ok, OH is used to heavy and wide loads as he drives Artics for a living, so hopefully will be able to apply some of that knowledge there.
I'm dreaming about caravans and what could go wrong.... And I've no money left lol!

Has it got a mover fitted? We find ours impossible to move manually without it other than that they are much more stable to tow and I find easier to reverse
I don't bother with blocks etc I try and find somewhere level...
