My thoughts entirely and that's why it's a legal requirement to have a pull cord switch in the bathroom at home to operate the ceiling light and shower. If an electric heater is installed the pull cord switch is fitted directly to the appliance.
We have a heated towel rail in our bathroom. Hard wired through the wall into a socket under the bed. All sealed so no water can get to it and switch it on and off from outside the bathroom so no wet hands touching electric.Sorry don't know how thick the wallboard is but all secure and dries my towels lovely and very warm in the night

Use an oil heater in there, girl! Plugged in from outside the toilet/shower area or routed underneath the door if you value privacy! We use an infra red, pulled away from the room before turning the water on . . .
