due to go to Cornwall next Friday. went out in car yesterday rumbling noise from drivers side front bearing . Nipped it round to my local garage where I have it service fitter took it for a run and said yes more than likely is bearing bank holiday closed Monday bring it in Tuesday will fit it in get you on the road for your holidays hope all goes well nd that's all that's wrong . OH says don't panic it will be alright but you can not you expect the worst crazy I know but looking at cheap tow cars I know OH will say no but I must look on the bright side. LOL malc1945
I had a wheel bearing fail with no noise or issue one minute. A flash of the ABS light which went off after a few seconds. Then less than 3 miles down the road failed big time.
Normally they do warn you with a bit of vibration, A rumble or some noise.

my car is a 2010 ford s max Yes I could replace the bearing my self but time is a big factor .I have rebuilt many a car engine and gearboxes in the past also I used to restore matchless and ajs motorcycles has above time and no longer having a garage makes working on motors a lot harder malc1945
Bearing - is that all! I've just had a new steering rack fitted I wish all I had was a bearing gone (fixed one of those too, last year on my 8 year old car). So DON'T PANIC it's no big deal but better dealt with pronto.
