We have used a pup tent at Sandringham CC site in the past, without a problem, although the occupants were charged the going rate for extra adults per night. Since the introduction of the awning/non awning pitch bookings have come into force, there may be some pitches that simply would be too small to fit a pup tent onto once the car and caravan were parked up. There are also some CC sites where for safety reasons, risk of flash floods, local planning restrictions ect no awnings or pup tents are allowed, so yes, your best bet would be to check with the site before booking.
