Hi, we are just in the process of replacing our van with a slightly newer one.
The old van has an waning size of 920cm, and we have an awning size 900cm to 925cm.
The new van, despite being the same size as the old van has a published awning size of 930cm.
Do you think the old awning will fit the new van? 2.5cm per side does not sound much but I don't want to find out it doesn't fit once on site, especially as we have a sleeper annexe which our teenage son uses.
If anyone has experience of using an awning which is a size down please can you advise?
Thanks

It would be a bit tight but probably possible on level ground. It would be easy to have the size changed to make it fit.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Thanks, have made an enquiry to get the awning enlarged a bit.

On your old van - where on the ladder rubbers did you peg? If it was close to the fabric then I would say it would fit. Can't you just run it round the rail and see?

I am sure you will be fine with your 920cm. Nr awnings give a 17 foot awning as 899-930 so if you take the mid line the awning is 915 so it gives you 15cm either way. 5 cm each side is acceptable. It would make more of a difference if you were on very uneven land.
I would do as suggested by jajash and run the awning through the awning rail.

Thanks all, will trial fit the old awning on the new van to gauge how it looks and go from there.
