Decided to take advantage of the discount offer on C&CC Sites, non-members same price as members. Been to the Salisbury site before back when I was a member so knew what to expect, and we weren't disappointed.
Got off to a bit of a slow start, managed to snap off the stems of the clutch discs on the tow hitch at T minus zero. It’s a Jeep thing, the spare wheel and the way the rear door opens makes it difficult to hitch, adjust the jockey wheel and release the handbrake unless you get the angle between car and van just so. Have fitted a shorter jockey but heavy handedness took over. Trip delayed whilst I picked up and fitted new discs. We arrived on site at about 10pm, with the fuel light on and the heads up display saying 0 KMs left in the tank, having sat on the M25 for 2 hours and visited every closed fuel station and one opened one that had run out of diesel.
Brilliant sunshine ensued for the next 4 days mingled with trips to gardens, shops and sitting in the sun. Was just relaxing Sunday evening feet up on the tow hitch, having just dismantled the awning and arranged my stop over for the way home the next day when I noticed the Jockey wheel tyre was flat. Took the wheel off as the valve had all but disappeared into the rim, only to find that the tube was completely knackered. The staff at the site directed me to a local caravan dealers and gave me a voucher for 10% discount, so 9am the next morning, whilst OH was busy with the toaster, I picked up and fitted a new jockey wheel.
Stayed over at a site in Heyford Leys, Oxfordshire, on the way home. Managed a trip to Blenheim Palace, a bit pricey I thought, but OH enjoyed it.
Well the savings on the site almost paid for the discs. Where to next?
------------- Just saying
If all is not lost where is it then?
