It could well be in the place you haven't looked. Vin plates are often on side of A frame at front, fitted before body was built onto chassis.

If you cannot find a plate, if you remove the A frame cover you will often find it stamped on the A frame at the top.

Thanks for the answers folks, I shall take the cover off today and take a look...

We only need it for the insurance company and for the CRIS register too....

CRIS was not introduced until 1992, so do you actually need to register with them? My caravan is a 1991 model purchased ex show stock in 1992 but is not registered with them.

Avondale were one of the 1st to register with Cris. My October 1991 van was one of the earliest.

Scheme started in 1992 but i think they allowed almost new ones to be registered or maybe they had an initial trial?

I know i have invoices from when my van was new and its 100% late 1991.

So...... I removed the front cover where the hitch is attached to see of theres a VIN plate/chassis tag there... nope nothing but a load of dead spiders and a couple of pieces of rotten wood....

I can only assume there isnt one on our van...?

I only wanted to register with CRIS for peace of mind more than anything else really...

Ah well, gonna take it away for the first time in a couple of weeks just for a weekend to make sure everything is working properly, as it is at the moment now the hotwater and cold water is fixed :)

The plate has probably fallen off then. Its a 24yr old 'van, nobody is going to nick it so I'd save your money & not bother with Cris. If you want a new vin plate you can buy them, search google for suppliers.
