Have decided on midnight start for a journey down to Cornwall from Liverpool. 330 miles
Probably going to think of an average speed of 50mph. So a break somewhere around 150-200miles 3/4 hours.
But will probably need a good rest and hopefully a little sleep somewhere for a few hours, as we can not get on site until 12.
Any one have any recommendations of somewhere to stop and rest on the A30 around Oakhampton? Will be travelling early hours wednesday
We travel down to Newquay every year from near warrington. If no one needs a toilet break I try and make it to Exeter services and stop for a couple of hours. There are plenty of pull in lay bys on the A30 for you to rest. Doesn't your site have a early arrivals field so you can pull up there.
With an average speed of 50mph i would suggest it will take you 5 hours to reach the A30.
If you need a break after 3+ hours i would suggest Sedgemoore services about 10 miles south of Bristol they have an excellent caravan area bottom right of the bottom picture
but you will be restricted to 2 hours unless you pay for the night.
2 hours will give you the boost you need to take you down to the A30, when on the A30 keep going past all the roadside laybys until you come to the laybys that are set back from the road and well worth the wait
When you see the sign for Oakhampton slow down and within less than half a mile you will this 3 lane layby to stay in for the rest of the night, as the above posts above lots of people do
