timber bearer under floor rotting away on avondale sandmartin caravan section under door. Any ideas how to go about replacing am qualified jioner so will atempt myself

hi, not 100% sure of the part you mean, but if its the part I,am thinking of a wooden batten running across the caravan approx. 4in x 1 with cut outs where pipes hoses wiring are these are just screwed to floor from underneath with small L shaped brackets and rest on to chassis. you could either remove old one make up new one to match or screw another one on to the old one

the floor panel itself (a ply foam laminate) sits on the chassis and does load bearing as such.. as albee says any other timber batons are there to support pipes and stuff..

as long as the floor panel hasnt rotted it should be easy to replace any additional bits..

my mayfly dosnt have anything under the door..

hi cippyman check to see your floor has'nt delaminated if it has it will feel spongy if it has you can do it yourself but it's a bit messy better off to get it done professionally but shop around first for the best price
