hi all, what size battery ( amps) have you got on your caravan, just fitting a motor mover and wondering if i should fit a new battery at the same time.
we dont use cl sites and want the mover mainly when parking it up at home.
How much did you pay for your battery and would you recommend it. looking at a 110 amp model
I use 110ah which we bought from Alpha Batteries at Rochdale we have had the battery for 4 years now and it is still going strong they have a shop on Ebay and also a delivery service (next day)and it only cost £65 when this one's had it's day I will buy a new from them.Ian

Unless you need to move the van long distances and/or up sloping ground then the 85Ah battery should be OK, as long as it's in good nick and charged up.
My recommendation for a replacement would be a Banner Energy Bull - costs a bit more but worth it.
For the mover duty, and where you are stating effectively you don't use non EHUs then the battery size has little importance. It is basically the batteries ability to supply the requisite high current the mover needs.
Here things work in your favour in that all "automotive starter" batteries can well cope with the current involved here, and are cheap and readily available. If your needs were the mover and caravanning off EHU the choice becomes more limited and if done properly more expensive.
An 85 Ah battery is a practical size for your mover needs; the mover actually takes little from the battery so unless you have a long steep drive to haul up there is no constructive argument to buy anything much bigger.
Mover manufacturers often suggest bigger but they hoist in some off EHU use being needed. You can't over do the size apart from carrying its weight/bulk etc and paying for it, but as explained in your case it is not necessary to go oversize.
The Banner Energy Bull recommended by an earlier contributor would be an excellent choice giving you a real quality product that would also allow you to try those non EHU 5 van sites and holiday meets. And a product that is actually as described on its label!
Not sure which type of MM you have. I have a powrtouch HD and they say a 85ah battery is sufficient to drive the MM.
Although I have a 110ah as thats what came with the van.

It is a fool who has to say something.
if all you want to do is use the mover and then drive to the nearest site hook up to the mains and charge up the battery until its time for home you dont need much of a battery..
if you want to be off the mains for a couple of days or so and still have enough battery power to use the mover when you get back home you need more of a battery..
how much battery you need depends how you use your caravan.. vans that spend most of their time plugged into the mains dont need much of a battery.. there is more to battery size than just the mover..
