Hi all. We are hardened campers that are new to the world of caravanning after inheriting a a small Freedom Jetstream caravan :) We seem to have a couple of problems though which im hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. The first problem is that when hooked up to the car the indicators on the caravan flash on the opposite sides to the ones on the car and secondly the carpet type stuff inside the caravan that covers the ceiling and walls is falling down. Any advice on how to fix either problem would be greatly recieved. Thank you.

The flasher issue is a fairly easy fix and you're likely to have the left and right respective wires swapped in either the car socket or the caravan. The only awkward thing is to find which is incorrect, as if you correct the wiring on the car socket (for example), you may then be re-wiring the car end wrong i.e., non-standard. This isn't a problem, but if you change the van again in the future, the problem may then return as you've inadvertently reversed what might be wired correctly (if you see what I mean).

Check the wiring here, the issue is likely to be simply wires 1 & 4 reversed.
The issue could also be due to how the audible sounder has been wired in, but correcting on the 12N plug/socket is the easiest remedy.

As for the 'carpet' type stuff, I'm a bit baffled as to what that is as the walls and ceiling are usually a rigid wallboard material. Maybe a 'Freedom' owner might elaborate.

Thanks for your reply Paul. Weve been assured that it isnt the car wiring as we had a brand new towbar fitted just before we towed the caravan for the first time and the fitters come and rechecked the towbar and electrics for us soon after. I had a feeling it would probably something fairly easy to fix. I shall have a look at the link.
As for the the carpet 'thing', caravan is a fibreglass shell and as a result i suppose has a lining off carpet up the walls and ceiling as insulation. On Freedoms it is quite renowned for coming away from the ceilings and hanging down so i was after the best way of fixing :)

Still can't help on the 'carpet' liner, but check the diagram in the link and simply swap over the two wires in terminals 1 and 4 to exchange the indicators. If the car end has been checked, then change the caravan 12N plug which should be a 5-6 minute job.

Perhaps historically, a previous owner had an issue on his tow-bar and swapped the caravan wiring to suit.

Hi, I have a Freedom Sunseeker. We had it from new last year. I have heard this is a common problem, where the lining comes away. As ours is new, we haven't got that problem (yet)! I did spot a small piece by the door that was starting to come away. We put some Evo stick glue behind it, and seems to have resolved the problem. A few people on here have stripped itoff and put new lining up, but its quite a job. Freedom dealers will re do it in their workshops, but I think it costs about £500.
