Do not know why it's called a 'wet locker' , I would say it is not a wet locker. As the fixed bed is directly over this locker I would not like to store 'wet' stuff there. Fair enough the black tray would be good for mucky boots and the like but I think you could live without it.

Agree with Bob, it's not really a wet locker and in fact I removed ours for a while to make the space more usable.
If you need the muddy boot type facility why not but one of the under bed type slide in storage boxes available from Ikea, Wilko etc....
I find mine a bit of a pain as it gets in the way when loading stuff, I was thinking of removing it too, I'd rather have a nice flat area under the bed. And I like jaiash's suggestion too should I need it later on.
