What are peoples views on windbreaks?
I use them to control the kids, I tell them not to go past the windbreaks, so that they still have speace to play without annoying other campsite users and also for my little bit of privacy when I just want to sit and enjoy a beer and read my book.
I know some people hate them but they do have their uses.
What are your thoughts??
------------- Never argue with an Idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!!!
Mine has several uses. If the campsite is the busy type where everyone is staring into everyone else's pitch I use it for a bit of privacy. On open campsites with a view I am quite happy to sit out in the open.
I also use it to protect my sitting area from a chilly or annoying wind and on the other hand to gather whatever breeze there is on particularly hot days and direct it towards my sitting area or into the tent.
It can be useful to shield the camping stove from the wind but I rarely cook on gas anyway.
The only downside of windbreaks in my opinion is that certain types make a loud rustling noise in the wind which at night can be annoying. Apart from that...each to his or her own and I don't judge people by their use of a windbreak - lol.
I use my windbreak for shelter. I never use it for privacy because the other side of the coin is that I can't see what everyone else is up to - which is probably putting up their windbreak to stop me nosing in.
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
I use my windbreaks for a variety of reasons:
* to protect me from the wind
* to give me some privacy
* to stop inconsiderate campers from walking across my pitch
* so I have somewhere to hang my fairy lights!
