Hi, I have a Fisher Holivan that I would like to find out more about. It has the makers serial number plate on it but can't make out the whole number although I think it is the same as the number etched on the windows. If so, it is 192389. It is 10' long not including the draw bar and it sleeps 2. there is a little toilet cubicle in front with it's own little window. I would post a photo but not sure how to do it. Ah, now added to my gallery.
Hi Carl i think the one i have shown is even smaller than yours they were made in the sixties/seventies and could be towed buy the smallest of cars.
I used to tow mine with a 2 ltr ford granada and i can honestly say i did forget it was there at times video
Yes it has to go to a new owner,I may have a buyer though.
The main reason for researching the background to the van was to pass on to the prospective.
If I wasn't actually moving into a van (rather than renting a house I couldn't afford) I would have liked to restore it. We did have a huge amount of fun in it though, touring around with our grandson. 3 in the bed and the little one said... So now we have a Trophy Agrarian 6 which also tows lovely but has of course got lots more room. Funny thing though, it seems harder to find any info on the Trophy than the Fisher.
Well, I am amazed at how many responses I had to an ad on Gumtree for the little Fisher Holivan. I took £530 for it and I think I could have made another £100 or so if I hadn't been so keen to sell. I have a list of numbers of people who asked me to contact them if the buyer didn't turn up. One guy rang me and told me he does this type of van up as coffee shops and he can't get enough of them so for anyone who has a little old van in need of some love there are definitely buyers out there.
Did you keep any of the number of people wanting a fisher holivan I have one available It needs a fair bit of work but well worth doing Its the s10 lovely little thing will all glass windows any info much appreciated
Is there a website of facebook page for the Holivan Fanclub? Or an email adress? I would like to know where I can find manuals, info books (prospects?) or spare parts. And I also want to know how others did it; restoring there van. What are the most common problems with these vans etc.
There is a Facebook page called Fisher Holivan Caravans that you could join.
The Fisher Holivan Owners Club address is:
Mr P A Williams
71 Whitehouse Avenue
Borehamwood
Hertfordshire
WD6 1HA
Spare parts, brochures and information manuals are pretty hard to come by as these vans are becoming more and more rare.
As with any van of a certain age, the main problems to look out for are damp and spongy or soft areas in the floor (usually in high foot fall areas like the door and kitchen areas)
Just remember that any repairs you do that add weight (usually by replacing things or adding items not fitted as standard) all use up some of your user payload and must be taken into account.
