If you want a 'Witter' towbar fitted than you will pay more for it whoever fits it as you are merely paying for the name but if you are looking for something more competitive make sure that the towbar conforms to EU legislation. You will also have to inform your car insurance too as with some insurances a towbar is classified as a modification.
You could have a towbar delivered to your home address and then get a mobile towbar fitter to fit it at home. If so then call this company as I believe their prices are competitive and this is the company I used.
i ask my last insurers to clarify exactly what they meant by the term "has the vehicle been modified in any way"..
the conversion got rather silly after that.. he he..
my first answer was "its twenty years old i am sure its not exactly as it was when it left the Japanese factory"..
a simple yes isnt good enough for these people..they want to know exactly what.. the lady seemed to have problems coping with me as these people often do.. i know what the word "modified" means the insurers seem to have problems define its meaning..

When I informed my previous insurer I was fitting a towbar to tow a caravan they asked if I wanted my insurance policy changing to say I now drive a caravan instead of a car. I had to slowly explain what a caravan is. Perhaps caravans aren't common where they have their call centre?
mine was english.. adrian flux to be exact.. 20 minutes plus of arduous conversation to renew a policy with no change from last years..
and then i had to send them three photographs of the vehicle they have insured for the last three years.. he he
but they are cheap (good value) and insure things a lot wont.. i paid around £150 for my 20 odd year old pajero.. i have been quoted as high as £1500 for the same vehicle.. when quotes for the same vehicle vary by as much as they do something is well wrong with the industry..
i never mentioned tow brackets by the way or my roof box.. he he..
Just had a detachable towbar fitted to my Mercedes C220 estate. The car's only 3 months old and I didn't want to risk the warranty so I splashed out on dedicated MB wiring - nearly as much as the towbar!
I mention this because modern cars are really complicated and a badly fitted loom can cause huge problems. Mine was fitted by professionals who then spent an hour reprogramming the car. I have read that Fords can also be temperamental with cheap wiring.
I paid £600 - a deal compared to the staggering £2400 (not a typo!) MB wanted.
