Anyone bought one of these cheap £30 trackers yet?
If so how do they affect your insurance? Ease of install and battery drain.

New Vango Orchy 500 to try STILL! STILL!
Battery drain will be a big problem. How long is it left off charge?
The figures are usually quite low but when you think thats 24/7 it can soon add up. It might not last a month even with a brand new 110A leisure battery.
try this 131172334340 item no ebay, this is cheaper if you search you can get a hard wired kit one for under £30.00.
it will go into sleep mode so the battery consumption is low and will text you when it is low so no problems worrying about the battery level, can also be set up to text you when the van is moved.
its easy to set up I did get a different sim card get a orange 2G from ebay top it up and away you go check it any time by phoning it then use google maps for the location.
Just got to look for a SIM card that I can plug in, top up and leave (without adding monthly)

Update:
Bought a three SIM card with £10 credit but didn't work, needs to be a 2g compatible card, so three and EE don't work. I ended up with a tesco card.
Fairly easy to set up, only tripping point is trying to get the balance from SIM card sent, but once I work it out I'll post here.
Does seem a nice little device, I have read that it draws 100mah, but yet to confirm.
It sends you a text message with last gps, time etc and you can just click and open in google maps if you have a smart phone. Just need to ring the tracker once. (Is suppose to hang you up after one ring once you established master phone)
You can set it to SMS you if a certain speed is broken or it goes outside of your set geofence. I haven't set this yet and sure if I want too yet, as I assume it will draw more juice from battery.
I can see my caravan from house so might just use it in single locator mode.
Seems good for £25 so far, will get some pics up soon. Thinking of disguising it as a aerial booster too so to the untrained eye it won't stand out.

I have one and use it with This Sim non expiring credit just call once every 180 days. I have found the tracker to be unreliable in the van. Ok outdoors but needs a good signal. Plenty of functions with it and reliable if you can get that signal.
