Get this done today the earlier notes don’t apply to my van.

The tube is round at the hitch end but oval/rectangular at the van end. The damper needs to have the hitch end aligned vertically to get into the tube then moved to match the bolt holes with screwdrivers/tongs whatever. The end of the damper should be horizontal to keep the angle of attack low..... it can be rearranged once in the tube.

Also I don’t see why the front hitch bolt need to be removed. I worked back from the hitch aligning the holes and shims and putting the bolts on. Once these bolts are through the back bolt and spacer can be managed into alignment with a screwdriver and force. It’s only a cm or two the damper end needs to move. Mine is the 161s and at 1600kg rating can be moved in by hand.

Easy when you know how. 😂
