Going to a festival with the caravan and have never camped without hook-up before. Any hints and tips would be much appreciated. likely to be 3 nights, I think?
I presume you van has gas or is it a foreign van with electric only.if so you can buy a one piece gas stove for £9.99 TO £12.99 in a ABS case + 4 CANS OF GAS FOR for £4.99. good for fry ups, tins beans soup etc tea brewing or just a pan of hot water for shave etc saw to day in JTF trading for £8.99.and at other times in B&M£12.99 Home Bargains £11.99 And I think Great Outdoors £10.99?? gas varies in price also.I have had mine for over 9 years which cost me £16.99 trade + £3.99 for 4 cans of gas. gas looks like slightly taller version shaving foam can but with added metal ring on shoulder of can stove has peitazo ignition and control knob on front side of stove, about 8/10 mins for 1.5 L camp kettle cold water Ps Aldi have some great windup and battery lanterns for cooking by. you wont be able to use your fridge on 12 volt unless hooked up to car with engine running there again unless you have caravan gas then your only problem will be your 12 volt lighting keeping your leisure battery charged ,how about a barbie gas cooker with larve coals can virtually cook anything on one
We have just done 7 days without hook up, went to two festivals and the battery lasted no problem, it is summer after all, didnt need the lights much, just charging phones now and again, used gas for heating water and only put pump on when needed. Enjoy it thats why we have an extra battery

Water pumps and electric flushing loos do the most damage. If you have these, just fill a container with water at the same time as filling the kettle, so you don't use the pump so much. Electric flushing loos really seem to eat into battery power, just use without the flush. Or fill a 4ltr water container to flush with.
My sister's battery went flat after a day with two of them using the electric flush.
Use your fridge on gas, 12v is only for whilst on the move. It will flatten your battery in a few hours if you run the fridge on 12v and it's not very effective anyway.
Always carry a spare battery torch or equivalent, and a water carrier. That way, if you do run out of power, you still have a light and water.

Either they have a bladder problem or their battery is knackered!!!!
We did 3 days for the tour 4 of us and used the motor mover twice total 50 metres (awkward drive), electric flush, occassional light and everything else off gas and still showed in the green for power when we returned. We charged our phones with external batteries we have for work.
Don't forget to take a gas stove kettle for tea and coffee. Also is your water gas outlet is under a window ensure you keep this shut at all times to prevent carbon monoxide being blown back in (according to our mannual anyway)
