The worst storm that we were ever in was on a CC rally at Elvastion castle. It was the day they predicted armourgeden, and the world to end. It started around 3pm in the afternoon and carried on for about two hours with no let up. It struck one of the caravan's awnings on the rally field and took out one of the steam engines over on the display arena.
At the height of the storm, the worst thing was the sound of people screaming, believing that the end of the world had truely begun. We had our two young daughters with us at the time, and they were very frightened by this indeed. The only thing we could do was to close all the blinds to stop them witnessing the intense lightening and sheer panic taking place outside. We switched all our electrics off on the zig panel and turned our gas off at the bottle, there wasnt much we could do about the noise as it was so loud, and even my husband whos used to working out in all weathers, admitted that he was scared.
By the end of the storm, the rally field was 2inches deep in water, and a few caravans had suffered water damage from the extreme force of the rain.
