Hello just purchased a 2014 Swift Elegance 580 tourer and on our first venture out was unable to attach the Isabella awning. On trying to pull the awning through the rail it got stuck at the square projection fitted at both corners of the awning. It would not budge so had to do without, very annoying ! Anyone else had the same problem and if so any suggestions on how to deal with it.

Thanks for reading.

Are you pointing to the rail or the awning as the problem?

We've just got a Challenger/Dorema and it went up easily (thankfully, our first time). Thought rail particularly well designed.

It has to be the rail which is very flush with body. We have been using the awning for about 10 years with 3 other caravans with no bother whatsoever so we think it has to be the 2 junctions on each corner of the caravan rail. We think it is the stitching on the awning where the roof end joints are.

There has been a lot of comment on this site about Bailey awning rails and the same problem,it turned out that the channel had mastic residue in it from construction.

The awning sticks at the same 2places on the awning rail, the joints in the rail at each end of the roof. Because of the thickness of the awning where the seams are these joints must be a fraction narrower thus stopping the awning from being pulled through. We have tried running the awning skirt through and this goes through with no problem whatsoever so it must be the seams causing the triouble. Thing is what do we do? Don't want to spend anothe £1000 on an awning that MIGHT fit.

I would ask the dealer. All these things are standard measurements: perhaps the dealer could try with an awning they've got lying around. If that doesn't work either you've got a warranty situation.
