Hi all. Could I ask. When servicing a van would you expect the Alde heating system water level, to be checked and topped up, (If required), and the battery to be charged, without being asked to do so, First time we have taken our van for servicing, we usually have it done at our house, so confused
thank you

Well yes they are supposed to check heating system
When we get ours back they usually have wacked the alde up to 30 d to see if it works
But if the tank is in a wardrobe and that's full of clothes they won't move said clothes
I normally check ours once a month anyway and just top up as necessary
They would have plugged it in for service anyway would not that have charged the battery ?

Thank you for your reply, The heating fluid hadn't been topped up and the battery was flat. The mover wouldn't work, we also have other issues we are unhappy about. Feeling very disappointed.

They should renew the Alde tank fluid at the service. Charging the battery is nothing to do with them, the upkeep of the battery is your responsibility.

Wouldn't expect the alde fluid to be renewed unless specifically asked for and think it would be an additional charge. Check and top up, yes, but not renewal.
Battery as you say, owners responsibility.

Sorry maybe I was just expecting all places to be the same as where our van gets serviced.

The fluid is good for 2 years. I did expect it to be topped up or advised to do it our self. as for the battery the check list states the batter was tested, they had left the microwave on so maybe that ran it down, been stood for almost a week before we collected it due to us both working.
I had hoped for better, they had even broken the sealant along the back of the bathroom sink due to pulling it away from the wall. the dirty hand print was still there showing where they had used the sink to pull them selves up. would assume from a kneeling position,

The microwave will be mains powered? so leaving it on wouldn't have drained the battery.
They might have left something else on though if it was a week before you picked it up. Radio, or light perhaps?

We had our ALDE system done and opted for the 5 year fluid at about the same cost. Next change over is due in 2018.
