Could do with some advice please re the Whale pump in our Bailey Pageant. It works fine but sounds like a diesel generator? It looks to be securely mounted on little grey grommets etc and I followed the instructions in the manual to make sure there is no air in the system but it makes such a racket it's almost embarrassing to use.
I only have our old van to compare, it was a different system but was whisper quiet compared to this. Can't imagine it was designed to be so noisy? The van is a 2010 and has little use before we got it.
My Bailey Indiana was the same. My Mate had the same van and his was the same. We tried all sorts of things, mounting them on sorbo rubber, but it never really improved. I think mine even came with a note from the manufacturer when it was new explaining that the pump noise was normal. I eventually changed the pump for a non standard part with the same spec etc and it was a bit quieter.

We have one in our S7 Burgundy and it isn't noisy, perhaps some were noiseir than others. What about a conversation with Whale? Here is the link, they may be helpful.

if they hang loose and dont touch anything they can be quiet.. they do vibrate and the vibrations can transmit and be amplitude via any surface they are in contact with..
I can't believe people are still complaining about these pumps. We have had them in the caravan since the Bailey Senator Series 5 which was 2006 and were around earlier that that. My opinion is that they are a far superior pump, for flow and long life. Yes they produce more noise than a submersible outside of the caravan, but how long are they running for? They will empty the aquaroll in less than 8 minuites! There are so many threads on this site and many other caravan forums with this complaint, if you haven't done your homework and researched your potential purchase please direct your comments to the dealer or manufacturer. In my opinion the current trend of going back to submersible is a retrograde step.

Thanks for your comments, I did do my homework before buying the van but I missed the advice that the pump sounds like a woodpecker trapped in a biscuit tin.
I have been in touch with the dealer and with Whale and am waiting for them to get back to me with further advice.
In the meantime this is a friendly discussion forum so I thought I would make a post about it to see if it was just mine.
I don't doubt that it performs better than a submersible pump but mine is really noisy so I was hoping for some advice. I may look at placing some foam or rubber between the feet and the mounting block as when I lift the pump a little it shuts up.
We found a huge difference if we did not ensure all air was out if the system and would run the pump with the taps open to get rid of all the air when we first arrived on site.
Van is on the drive, might have another play with it at the weekend. I ran it with the kitchen tap on and it spluttered for 2 or 3 seconds before flowing freely.
I find if I lift the body of the pump a few mm it becomes less noisy so I might look at how it's mounted an add some padding.
I haven't ruled out pilot error hence my plea on here for advice
the submersible ones are rated at 13 litres a minute i think..
i have one permanently installed in the cupboard under my sink as well as the normal outside one.. the one inside moves more water than i ever need its also quiet..
my problem is filling up water containers not emptying them..
if a pump does sound like a wood pecker in a tin its ether poorly installed or there is something wrong with it..

Thanks Trog, Whale asked me to quote the the Quality Assurance number from a little oval sticker on the body of the pump. Perhaps there was a dodgy batch and mine slipped through the net?
One other thing that we had that caused problems was leaking or ring seals on the external connection which allowed air to be drawn into the system. Once we had replaced the o rings we didn't have any further problems
