Hi in a couple of weeks im travelling to France from Hull on North Sea Ferries I have one question do I set the fridge on to battery when I get parked up on ferry and when we get to Zeebrugge turn it back on to electric or do I leave iton battery
Many thanks
Andy
The fridge won't operate from the caravan battery. The only 12 volt power is from the towing vehicle when in transit which comes from the vehicle's alternator and battery.

There's nothing you can do to run the fridge while on the ferry. Assuming you have the car wired to power the fridge while towing, it should have dropped to a low enough temperature to maintain during the crossing.
I would advise where possible, to pre-chill the fridge before your journey and the use of frozen drinks etc., will greatly assist keeping the fridge temperature low.
Your fridge won't be a problem. We regularly go to France on a 6-8 hour journey and as long as you don't open the door it will stay cool. Put some frozen blocks in before you go which will help.
Your battery would be flat if you could run it whilst stationary!
As mentioned it runs from the car battery but I also add that the car should have a voltage sensitive relay wired in when the 12s socket was fitted that only allows power to the fridge when the engine is running and the battery charging, in other words it shouldnt flatten the car battery.
