Hi, after spending another uncomfortable week sleeping in our awning, I think it's time we looked at a fixed bed set up. I'd like a small 2 berth caravan capable of giving us a decent nights sleep with a few creature comforts thrown in. Don't really want anything too conventional if poss. Have looked at the pino and also the go-pods online and I'm guessing these are about as small as we'd go but I'm open too ideas. Don't need a shower but need a loo
Can anybody suggest anything else?
The best bit of advice I was given by a veteran caravanner and work colleague when we were thinking of buying a 'van was not to assume that because there were only 2 of us that we only needed a 2 berth.
Consequently our first caravan was a 4 berth Bailey Beachcomber with a mid diner and end bathroom. We used to leave the beds made up at the front so effectively it became a fixed bed.
He warned me that if we were restricted for space it could ruin our caravanning experience and I think he may well have been right.
We never regretted it taking the advice and now have an end bathroom fixed bed 4 berth which works very well for the wife and I and our 2 girls (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeens).
We sleep in the awning as the wife likes to sleep "outside" rather than in our old vw camper as it only has a 3/4 r&r bed and it's a bit tight for both of us. I like to sleep in the "recovery" position and it just isn't possible.. Our next adventure wll have me in the van and her in the awning. I know if we buy a caravan if sorts then she won't be sleeping outdoors but it'll be a compromise we can both live with.
I think we will have to look into folding campers/trailer tents etc.as well
