So I've recently acquired a caravan and admittedly I know nothing about them at all.
Not even sure of model and berth to be honest!
Anyway the Mrs isn't too keen on camping so I thought I'd try and get hold of a caravan for us.
All I know is its a sprite ci major (I think)
It's been stored under cover for the last 8 years and is in need of some tic.
Need to do a bit of a refit inside to modernise it a little and clean up the outside and fit a new window to replace the broken one.
Hope these pictures show up ok!
Will keep this updated as get stuff done and if you could also shed any more light on this I'd love to hear anything?
Wow, first post and you can post pictures. You should have no trouble with a simple little caravan refit.
Certainly looks like a Sprite Major, it says so on the side. We had a Sprite Musketeer when I was a lad but that was a 1964 I think with a stepped roof and 14' long. They did a Major at that time which was 16' and top of the range.
I love to see the old ones being brought back into use.
Hi, definitely CI sprite looks early enough to have been built on CI,s own design of chassis which was cream in colour, with rod brakes, and triangular wishbone suspension with small car style suspension struts. If I remember correctly.
Ahh brakes... Check the springs on the brakes. On my old sprite musketeer I had them snap. You only felt slightly more resistance when pulling away but they were not releasing as they should have been.
Easy to check. Looking underneath, A spring on each side if you follow the brake rods.
Cheers guys.
2 main things are replace the tyres and get the brakes looked at. I'll get some pictures of the interior and get them posted up.
Quite looking forward to getting it stripped and cleaned and seeing what I can come up with!
Got a holiday to spain booked so I'm under orders to leave it alone until after that!
Is there a plate on these to give me anymore info?
Hi, I think you should find a chassis No stamped on chassis around A frame the first two numbers I believe refer to year eg number starting 82 would be 1982.

That plate shows the UNLADEN weight of you Sprite Major.
I suspect you SWB Pajero gross weight is more than 1800kg.
You might need to take your B + E test.
