Hi,been on a few pitches latley and not quite level.I know you should not use the legs to level a van so what is the best answer to level a twin axel caravan on the side.I could use wood but that is bulky to carry.Any suggestions are very welcome, thankyou
Levelling ramps Or planks shouldn't take up much room.
Dont use the steadies to level the van, Its not a should not its a must not..
I use a couple of plastic yellow wedge ramps. Or for bad pitches i have a few lengths of decking boards.
Start off with a 8" long one then a 16" and then a 24" long one. Those 3 give a 3 inch lift and take very little room. With a twin you may want to extend them to cover both wheels though.
I do mine like that so the mover has little effort going up the levels.
But i picked up a bulldog leveller very cheaply a little while back and used that last year. Much easier all around.

twins have to be more difficult to level than singles or just need longer blocks of wood.. long enough to cover both wheels.. i use two (imperial) sizes 3 x 3 and 2 x 3.. i carry two of each.. i lay them lenghways on and side by side.. they are also handy for getting up kerbs and taking the hitch weight if i need to move my jockey wheel up or down..
they dont look very posh but i would not be without them..
built on jacks would be best.. or steadies strong enough to carry some weight.. i would guess they often get use as "jacks" strong enough or not..
caravans are flimsy contraptions.. maybe too much so..
leveling a twin is easier than leveling a single if you are using a pair of ramps.....the reason being that you can put the wheels on opposing ramps and they don't roll off like a single axle would.
when we had our twin all i used were two ramps and a block of 3x4" wood...i usually just put the ramps back to back, and all i did was push them further apart if i wanted to be higher....its useful to have a block that would fit between the two ramps so you can just drive the van up one and down the other.
and if you only wanted to be a little higher then its possible to use them thin end pointing to each other, and just have each wheel on the lowest bit of the ramp - but this takes a bit of practice and knowing where to put them to just drive back and forward to put in place.
