Anyone with a twin axle van recommend what we should be looking for ?
We bought an adria last year but the layout doesn't work for us so we are looking to change without making the same mistakes again. The Sportline was our first van so we were a little green.
We want a twin for space. We know we want a fixed double bed and an end washroom with seperate shower.
Some have a dinette, some don't. Do you need one ??
As you have already found out what suits you may nto suit someone else.
Its all about what YOU need and want from your caravan. When we bought out 1st van a double at each end was ideal. Over the years a side diner with end bathroom is the ideal one.
You need to go and spend time in the van and imagine setting up and eating dinner, Setting up beds etc.

Accept what you are saying although we can all learn from each other's experiences of what works and what doesn't.
For example our Adria, the steady legs are sited so far under the van you have kneel on the floor to see them and wind them down. If you put your draining board out you have to put your kettle away first as not room for both, shower room is one floor so the toilet floor gets wet when you have a shower.
I'm also interested in views on Alde wet heating system. Can you have towel radiator on without heating ? Is it good, better than blown air etc ...
We find the alde system very good although it does take some time to get going (around 35min)on electric only on gas much quicker but it does use gas at some rate
for this reason we fitted a small plinth heater under the fridge so we have both blown air and radiators now I thought the towel rail option worked off the hot water but there are some electric versions
We have separate shower and toilet half way down van with fixed bed at rear works well for two of us and small dog
No you can't isolate the towel radiator from the rest of the system. I have read on here a lot of people saying they have had both types of heating and after having Alde they would not go back to the blow air system.
We have only experienced the Alde system and think it is excellent.

Heating system. When we are in France we never have the heating on but do have the hot water working, and the towel radiator is not on.

Alde is brilliant. Our caravan has a double island bed, good sized washroom with separate shower, adequate kitchen space. As there are only 2 of us, we use the pull out bit on top of the front chest of drawers for eating.
why not look at the adria adora isonzo, we looked at every caravan on the market as we needed floor space for the dogs, its 8 metres long and 2.45 metres wide and 1800kgs on a single axle. as adria has the customer satisfaction award last year, having awkward corner steadies is a small price to pay when you know you get a good product
We bought in 2011 a new 2011 eldiss crusader supersirocco, twin axle, fixed bed, end washroom, shower is massive like a double one, big fridge, thats whats did it for us. twin axle tows a lot better than a single axle as its heavier, but obviuosly you need the appropriate tow car.

Looks nice. What's it like towing with the extra width ?
I tow with a toyota land cruiser which is heavy and it tows a dream, even in winds you hardly know its on the back, width wise you need to watch in narrow roads but i am experienced with hgvs so does not bother me,Alco have done some modification to the axle so its a single axle rated for the 1800kgs. only problem is nose weight, 7%, 126kgs, the toyota can take 150kgs. we got the isonzo in march this year and love it,very spacious, great as we have 3 collies,
Thanks Steve. Weights no issue as we tow with an x5. Just have to watch nose weight though as it's 120 on the BMW. Will have a look at Venture when passing.
