Weve nearly had to cancel our holiday yet again this year as our dog sitter let us down today and we are due to travel tomorrow to France! I literally got a phone call an hour ago to let me know she couldn't have her - iv got some very good friends and managed to find one to have her for us last minute - so weve decided to take her with us next year. Is it difficult to get the paperwork etc to take them abroad and how much does it cost?
I know they need a pet passport but I know nothing about them?? Our dog has all her immunisations and up to date with flea treatments and wormers but what else is involved? Are sites in France ok with us Brits taking our dogs?
It is very easy, see your vet to get a Pet Passport and Rabies injections. Can't remember the cost but someone on here will know, think it was about £40.
France is a lot more dog friendly than the UK. Dogs are welcome on most campsites, cafés and restaurants in France. We take our pug with us twice a year, the only restriction we find is that we can't go in a supermarket together.
You will need an appointment with a French Vet during the last few days of your holiday for the Pet Passport to be stamped and wormer tablet given. Your campsite should arrange this and it will cost about €30ish.
Discounted Insurance Quotes for UKCampsite.co.uk visitors! Up to 12.5% off!
Dead easy just find a vet that issues pet passports you will have a great time with your dog,you have to worm and flea treat at certain times to coinside with travel dates
Your dog will need to be microchipped first and immunised against rabies before they can issue a passport.
The total cost is probably around £100 ours was.

Thank you to everyone for your replies. I will look at my options and have a think about it. At least she's sorted this year! I'm getting onto practice on the red wine after the day iv had!
Pet passport including rabies jab £60 allow 2 weeks after jab before you travel. You go to any french vet show them your pet passport get an appointment part with €30 all done, get to crossing dog is scanned all done back in car cross channel then home. DFRA website has details you oen vet should be able to do passport, easiest way to find vet look local to your site if car park is full of Britain cars thats the one to use as they will know how to fill in paperwork.
