Having had an Elecsol 100ah on my last caravan I would have liked to treat my new to me caravan to the same, as the one on there now is no good.
Apparently Elecsol are no longer available so, I require an alternative that can run my motor mover and put up with rallying in conjunction with a 100 watt solar panel.
What do you good folk recommen please ?
------------- Albino, Can"t say fairer than that !
I will second Numax 110ah now on the second van, battery was new 2009. It has to move van out from back of house 30m to front each time we go away so it has had plenty of use.
Numax are excellent but I decided to go for a Banner from Roadpro. Good product from good manufacturer in Austria who has been making them for 70 years, not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for a whole weekend.
I am another who believes in buying Banner Energy Bull leisure batteries, as opposed to the large number of sub performing products out there.
Reading John Wickersham's excellent article from the Caravan Club's October 2010 magazine outlines exactly the reason why they are a sound choice for our application;

My cheap and cheerful battery has lasted 6 years so far.
But has it done so throughout in an off EHU role as required by the OP?
Without that true deep cycling role then any cheap starter technology battery will be fine. But cycle it as when rallying it will sort out the more suitable products from the less suitable just as the test John reported on.
It all depends what the battery is for, in this case the OP has been specific it is for off EHU use.

Ran it most of the last fortnight without EHU thanks, and its had a mixture of use and abuse over the years. Still enough charge to work the motor mover, and its only an 80ah battery. Why assume it is simply a starter battery?
As for that test you mention, yes I read the report and by the second sentence had found a wholly incorrect statement:
On the one hand it has to produce a supply of 12V DC power. On the other, it smoothes out irregularities in the output derived from a built-in charger.
Modern caravans use switch mode power supplies (at least mine does)to charge the battery, and I suspect most do. These are, by design, very well regulated, usually to better than 1mv.
