Where's the best place to buy a circlip? Motor factors? Hardware shop? not much call for them in Information Technology so its not really my field.
Motor factors is the best bet but,you could try what David suggests first..
I had the same issue so mentioned it to the friendly mobile service engineer who said it was possible to faster it in place with a cable tie round the barrel on the inside. Not sure how he did it but it hasn't came out all season.
The fix in the link is pretty much the exact same way I repaired my barrel lock. I drilled a hole through the blade of the barrel and anchored an off-cut of steel bar that did the same thing.
Incidentally, it isn't simply loss of the 'C' clip that causes this problem. The internal plastic of the door through which the barrel fits, is fluted to allow an almost push-fit of the barrel. With repeated use of the lock, the plastic sections break off.
I shall post a few photo's of my repair when I get chance as this is a common fault with this door.
The plastic sections didn't break off but on one of the posts which the self tapper goes into to secure the assembly to the door the post is a moulded plastic and the seal had parted letting the 2 halves part and thus the self tapper on one side wouldn't tighten.
A deployment of super glue to hold it back together fixed this.
