Hi Jsparks, reread your insurance policy regards wheel locks.
Ours insists that both a wheel lock and a hitch lock are fitted whenever the car is stationary and the wheel lock if stopped art services.

i carry a cheap 2 ton scissor jack.. it weighs very little and will go under a very low surface.. i dont expect to have to use it.. its more a just in case thing..

I had a puncture on the M6 and it took me under 10 minutes to jack up the caravan, get the spare wheel out from underneath, change the wheel, throw the flat wheel and jack into the boot and get moving again. This was on a narrow section of hard shoulder and traffic was going past very fast.
I'd have hated to wait there for an hour or so for the RAC to arrive. I would have been worried all the time that something would have hot the caravan and damaged it.
After that I bought a full motorway standard hi-viz suit and I keep that and the jack in the outside locker of the caravan so they are both ready if ever needed again. I'd rather get the wheel changed and move out of danger quickly than sit and wait for help. Now I know how to get the wheel out from underneath I do not think it would take more that 5 minutes to change a wheel and be on my way.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
