Hi can anyone give me the exact sizes that I would need to make a new set of curtains for our swift corniche 2 berth caravan have not got the original ones as templates
to use it's a 1992 model 16ft long hope someone can help and many thanks for any help given janette
I've never made curtains for a caravan, but I have for the house! Measure the window width and length. You have to decide what size of hem you need at the top to take either curtain tape or a wire (not sure how you're hanging them?). Whatever the size you need at the top for a hem, double it as you will need to fold it over twice for a nice finish. Also do the same for the bottom hem and they will hang better. You should probably just allow 2 inches either side so you can fold a double 1 inch hem at each side for a nice finish.
Are you lining them? That throws up another complication!
They don't hang on normal curtain track. There is a plastic studded stuff that mates with the curtain track you can buy on a roll from Caravan supply shops. You simply stitch (well I say you in my case it was the wife using one of those extremely complicated things with 2 needs and pulleys and things I can never work out how to thread!)
Hi I tried to make them before from ready made curtains that I had bought but I thought that I was not going to have enough to finish the job so I gave up as am not that good at measuring and cutting to size if I could find out the sizes that I need would have another go as I have been given another 1 pair but I do not want to start cutting them up if am not going to have enough to finish it again and thanks for all your help
You could try making templates for every window out of newspaper or something similar and laying them out on the material (make extra allowances for hems, top and side seams, etc.) and then you would have an idea of whether you would have enough material before you start.
SWMBO has just made curtains for our COC using the old curtains as a template. From what I saw, measure the exact width and allow an extra 1 1/2 inch (35mm) on each side (70mm per 1/2 window width) so that would be about 6" per window. Stitch the lining onto the sides first, using the 35mm allowance, then the hem. For the height, get the measurement exact, stitch them to correct length then fix the popper tape. Simples!
I should never have left the workhouse.
One way of fixing the popper tape would be to use velcro on the back of the tape and also on the curtain.
Piccies to follow.

Here are the pics. The popper tape on the bottom runner is only on the front window and keeps the curtains from hanging loosely when pulled to. Hope this helps
