Is it possible to change my standard wheels on a 2007 ranger for alloys so I can use a alko wheel lock that will be approved by the camping and caravan club insurance?
My storage site doesn't have all 4 requirements and the insurance will want me to pay the first £500 for a claim unless fitted with a approved security device. I'm not wanting to spend on a tracker which leaves only the wheel lock by alko which needs the alloy wheel I think?
If you have alko chassis and purchase a set of wheels that will take an Alko wheel lock
there are about 40 different Alko castings to fit different spoked alloys but all are not available in UK, you will require all the chassis mounted parts as well, This is usually fitted by caravan manufacturer and you purchase casting and keys etc to fit the spokes of alloy wheels fitted. Most caravan dealers have several A4 sheets of list and pic,s of wheels and castings available in UK,
You might be lucky and be able to purchase a set of wheels, chassis parts and all the other parts required from caravan breaker who has purchased a 206 /209 write off be prepared to travel as you could save yourself upto £500 good hunting

Wouldn't it be cheaper to use another insurance company? The caravan club insurance I have only specifies the need for a hitchlock or wheelclamps.
My thoughts exactly, how much two alloys, and an alko wheel lock?
Look for another company, ours only want a type approved wheel clamp although we keep ours at approved storage. Having said that most wheel clamps are pretty useless they can be cut in no time at all.
I tried a few insurance companies and decided I wanted to go with one of the main ones caravanguard but they wanted a lot more money and a extra security device. I checked the C&CC and there's was a good price but said I would need to pay the first £500 if the van got damaged on the site. I never checked the caravan club till last night, they are still £50 more expensive but I would only need to pay £50 when making a claim. They seem a lot more straight forward with there requirements.
I might cancel the C&CC and change?
The alloys was just a thought, didn't think it would be straight forward to do.
We used to insure our last caravan with caravanguard but when we bought our new van they came out with all sorts of stipulations including hitching posts etc.
We then insured the van with the caravan club who only require one security device - either hitchlock or wheelclamps, which don't have to be alko.
Just cancelled my policy with the C&CC and tried to go with the caravan club only to be told you have to be a member which I must have missed on there site before ringing.
Rang towergate at dinner but was told by the lady she wasn't qualified to give quotes and would get someone to call me back after 5. No call back so that's another off the list, is not going well. I have to renew my car insurance before the 10th October as well so I'm juggling the two.
