Have you read the post from 2013 on this page (lower down) about the Elldis owners who had problems with the same dealer?

I think you will find the legal advice from Phil very helpful.

In the meantime I think you need to kick up a stink, a big stink.  Post on all the relevant internet sites and contact Trading Standards.  Perhaps Watchdog or the Dom bloke on the tele - he sorted out someone's longstanding caravan problems I seem to recall and got them a new van.

I sympathise with you. £20k for a van that leaks and doesn't even tow properly.  I would be gutted.

I have bought a number of caravans from Glossop, and the story that you relate is very familiar. The only reason that I return is that you can not buy a caravan cheaper (either new or second hand) anywhere. But as with all things you get what you pay for. Once outside the gates Glossop wash their hands of you, no warranty, no nothing! However I have suffered much worse than you identify and paid for all of the repairs, and still been better off. And I know that the jobs have been done properly. The only man at Glossop worth his salt is Mike Pinder the service centre manager, but it is easier to get an audience with the pope!

I really feel for you. None of this is acceptable at all. I would be seeking legal advice if I were you (even if from the other suggested thread) because this caravan is NOT fit for purpose!

Can't help to much but regarding the blowen air heating, do you have access to behind the fire? Some of the new ones have a diverter valve on that can be set to alter air flow around van. Maybe yours is set just to the front. A lot of swifts I have seen have water pooling on there roofs.

There is no fire on the new vans. It's all hidden away sadly.

I fitted a small plinth heater into our conqueror under the fridge this cures the problem of waiting for the heating system to warm up..

SwiftTalk is a good read and very useful if you are a Swift owner. The problem is that Swift owners continue to put their complaints regarding the product when the vast majority of problems could be put right by the dealer they bought it from. The responsibility is always the dealers unless Swift take over the matter and deal with it at the factory but always through the dealer

Swift, like other manufacturers, have had their problems with damp but they always make sure that the problem is sorted.

Swift have a responsibility to their customers who have bought a new van and have had their vans serviced as requested. Why should those who do not adhere to the warranty conditions receive the same service?

There have been numerous people venting their anger at Swift, particularly regarding damp, and later in the dialogue it is admitted that they haven't followed the rules.
Swift are the only manufacturer who run a forum. Don't think other manufacturers dare try it!

The best way to communicate a problem to Swift is to do it quietly on the forum and not broadcast it all over the internet forums!

Moto of this saga is, beware which dealer you purchase you van from. If the deal sounds too good to be true then it usually is.
