When I park the caravan up for the week or two before I go away I noticed everything gets cold/damp yet no signs of water anywhere. Its on my drive so do I leave a heater on or something (going to cost eh)or is there a simpler thing I'm not doing.
any help appreciated.
my van is parked permanently in my garden.. i have never seen signs of condensation or damp in it..
i think that maybe its a sign the van does have some damp problems.. a cool air fan circulating air through the van would not use much leccy and may help.. more so than a heater..
i have family that do (or did) live in a boat.. condensation is a major problem for them.. they say a de-humidifier is an essential.. but they do live in it and the boat does sit on water looking at the amount of water the device collects i think they are right..
an unoccupied caravan should not suffer from it though..
When i had my vans parked at home i used a skirting board heater. They dont give out a great heat but,in the winter it keeps the inside of the van just above freezing at a low cost.
Any unheated structure will feel cold and damp through winter. I dont care how much ventilation you have. All the fabics are going to absorb the cold air, and 'feel' damp, its natural.
Im with Jeff - either get a little oil heater, or use the vans own set very low. It'll cost nowt. Or more accurately, it costs nowt, as i do it every year myself.
