we have just got back from France in our folding van and have decided we want to buy a caravan in France and leave it there for our French trips . does anyone have a contact that sells vans in France. or should we buy in UK and then store in France . we still want our folding van for UK weekends . thank you
If you just want to store your caravan in France then it will be cheaper & easier to buy it here & tow it there. Plenty of Brits store in France. Choose an area of France where you want to store it & then have a look round during next yrs hols & you can then leave it there. Its not hard to find somewhere & if you can't speak French its easier to deal face to face rather than by phone or email.
If you want to buy abroad, ie you want a German built caravan, Hobby or whatever then best bet will be to buy in Dutch speaking north Belguim where dealers are generally fluent in English. Even with the favourable €/£ rate at the moment secondhand caravan prices in Europe ain't that cheap though.
You don't need 'contacts', everything is searchable on google, dealers websites, caravan storage. Use google translate to get the right language & then search online.

siting a British van long term getting insurance cover can be a problem. & buying a French / continental van might be a problem as they are individually registered with their own number plate & have to be tested & taxed each year .
I don't know the answers but just point out possible problems
