Well my sights have been set on the Adria Altea Tay 432PX (aka SportLine PX) for some time, but this model has now been dropped.
So now enters the Adria Altea Forth, which may be just the van for us, at an all up weight of just 1100kg which is not much more than a FC, it may be the perfect match for the icle VW Golf 1.6TDi 5dr BlueMotion firms car that I drive.
Full spec for the Forth is not as yet available, so I hope to find out more at the NEC Show next week.
But for just the two of us, I am hoping that this will be just the ticket for our first ever caravan, after many, many years of Tent camping!
Andy by the time you come to get one, 6 years??, the spec will probably be out by then.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?

Well blueexpo97 it is hard to say what I will end up with, and I may even bring my plans forward, but as it stands my 6 year plan is still on course.
The more I read about caravans, the less I want one, as they seem to be more trouble than they are worth.
But as time goes by, they do seem to be getting better, or I hope at least that is the case.
It certainly seems to me that caravan manufacturers have taken built in obsolescence as far as they can, and maybe new vans of today are starting to be built better, who knows.
If you look on the Adria website you will see the spec, its just another 2berth caravan with end kitchen so nothing new at all. You could buy a 20odd yr old Elddis with same layout off ebay for a few 100quid.
I've towed an 80s ABI down to south France for last 4yrs that cost me half the price of your tent.
Wow Ludovine a caravan for £350, I must be mad to be considering spending 30 times that much maybe more, but people do, don't they?.
At least the car I drive cost me nowt, the firm I work for pays for that, so it seems only wright that I splurge some dosh on a decent caravan, but not just yet though!
Don't forget Francais if someone was not buying them new, the Ludovine would not have an 80's caravan to tow to france at all!
For me todays Caravans are a pretty much a world away from a caravan of 80,90's and even early 2000's. They have become touring holiday homes rather than posh tents lol
I would add we have been more than pleased with our move from tent top to tin top with an Adria.
It tows beautifully (as well if not better than our FC did) and the Adria quality of build has given no cause for concern whatsoever.
I get the attraction of tenting, I just wouldn't go back currently!
Thats how I look at my caravan, literally a tin tent. I only use it for a couple of mnths in France in the summer & to go to Holland for a couple of wks in spring, otherwise it just stands in my garden. I don't bother with insurance.
I get a chassis service every 2yrs £70 & do whatever else is required. I suppose total cost is £600 including diy fixing including fixed double bed & new mattress. Its had new brakes & hitch damper so it tows like a new caravan. Its a cost effective way of doing what I do, I don't want to camp in a tent anymore, I've done all that.
