Didn't think this day would come but today we paid for our caravan and are collecting it tomorrow.
It is in a secure storage site and paid up till December and has been transferred into our name.
We are fetching it home tomorrow to have a play about with it and maybe a sleepover in it :)
I think my wife is in more shock than me as I said I'd never have one and it was me that decided to change.

Just thought I'd post as I am quite excited and didn't think I'd feel this way about a tin box but can't wait till we can use it properly.
Will post pictures tomorrow.

No haven't had much all week to be honest ..
I went to pay and do the swap over at the storage area and when the seller had gone I had a tinker about with it and just sat in it for 10 mins...feels like we have done the right thing

My Hubby was the same, said he would never have a caravan and now we've got one there's no stopping him!! We both really love it. Enjoy your first time away.

You will really love it. We were campers for years and never thought we would buy a caravan but our circumstances changed and we bought a van so we could take Mum away with us. Love it!!! Enjoy

I can relate to how you feel..I bought my first caravan 41 years ago and felt as happy as a dog with two tails.
To be honest I get the same feeling everytime I change my van..Enjoy as I am sure you will

Looking forward to seeing the pics pencamper.

We were dyed in the wool FC-ers and the thought of towing a large tin box around was a No No, but health or rather the lack of it eventually persuaded us to try a van.

It is a whole lot of little things that have really pleased us about the van. It retains the heat longer, the ventilation is better, the seats are twice the thickness of the FC, oodles of space and oodles of lockers.
We can even lose things in the van.
The latest being a packet of biscuits. (I bet the dogs have scoffed them and hidden the wrapping).

And then there is the fact that I can just open the door, climb in and sit and dream about our next trip.

Hi lobey

I love the pathfinder but the thought of all that money sat on my drive and not being able to use till next spring really swung it for me.
Also the thought of wet pack ups and drying out seamed to take over our holiday !!!! Always looking at the weather forcast to see if it was going to rain on pack up day lol

Should have none of that now with the van

Been awake since 6 and itching to fetch it lol

Watching weather forecasts are still a big part of our caravanning experience and last week we had the dubious experience of towing the van back from Scone C&CC Site(near Perth) in very heavy rain and gale force winds. Like the wipers were going at double speed so that we could see the road. As we crossed the River Tay on a high bridge, our speed was down to 40mph.

This is the time of year when we get lovely sunny days, but can also get blasted by really nasty weather too and towing a caravan can be a bit hairy.

Having said that, I would rather be sleeping in a caravan in these conditions than in an FC.

Congrats. We bought our first ever caravan too this summer. Camped in tents for years (decades actually) and always laughed at the weird people travelling round with huge boxes behind their cars.

But then the pitching and breaking camp started to become a bind - especially with 20 years accumulated gear to pack away - and everything had to be hauled down from the garden shed and then back again. As well as this, getting up from the airbed of a morning started to elict strange noises and grunts as I made my legs stand up.

Now we have a new sensation when camping in the UK - WARMTH!
