We are fairly new to camping and caravanning, and have been impressed with some of the onsite facilities eg lovely sized showers, piping hotwater etc, but why do some people not feel the need to brush the toilet when they have been, would they leave it in that state back at home??
I don't recall a toilet brush available in any site toilets we have visited, do we have to take our own brush? Some people cannot get the paper in the toilet never mind clean it.
most domestic behavior is habit forming so if they dont do it on holiday they dont do it at home.
You also have to consider that some of it is done by children who are used to their parents cleaning up after them.
Homebird 2003 , I totally agree, the cleaners/wardens must despair at the mess some people leave and I wouldn't say it was kids as the last site I was on was midweek with the kids at school still.!! Definitely adults
I visited a site just before the school holidays this year. It was quite busy but the toilet facilities were spotless. I even commented on that in my review.
I then visited the same site again in the last week of the school holidays and there was a clear difference. I used the facilities quite early one morning they were fine but clearly not quite as clean as before. When I visited again later in the day after all the campers had done their morning ablutions it was a tip. Water running all over the surfaces around the basins, toilets left unflushed, poo stains on the white toilet seats (a couple of cubicles), and the floor filthy from boots and shoes.
Thankfully when I again visited later in the day it had been tidied up a little. The owners/cleaners must be so demoralised every time they have to clean up other people's mess, most of which was not necessary and could have been easily cleaned by the users.
I didn't do a second review and didn't consider the mess the fault of the campsite but I wonder how many people marked the campsite down on the cleanliness of it's facilities...all caused by the campers themselves.
Hi, at least they used the toilet, at a club site near hythe a couple years back someone left deposits in the shower. Beware some strange folk out there!!!
