I was not really impressed by the new caravans.Nothing stood out and said buy me like mine did 3 years ago.The interiors do look nice but the living area seems to be getting smaller. At one time you could lie length ways on the seating but now lucky if you can just sit up.But i cant see where this space has been used elsewhere. Some nice vans but im disappointed that not one has L shape living room.As for the hobbies,i thought they would be really nice and well built, but i think they were the worst basic flimsy things i saw.
UK built caravans often have very large toilet/shower compartments which limits interior space but presumably this must be what UK buyers want or they would not be built like that. Foreign built 'vans almost universally have fixed beds & quite small toilet compartments which make them look bigger inside. Hobbys have always been at cheaper end of market & should not be compared with more expensive German makes.

I chose my caravan because it had long front seats that I could lie down along (I'm 185cm tall).
Most 'vans shorten these seats to fit in either a second seating area or fixed beds - the difference is significant: mine just has a side-dinette and no bed 'cos we'd rather have a bit of space like you during the day and weight/cost constraints wouldn't allow for a long caravan. So we take 5 mins to make up the double bed each night, a choice worth paying for us but I appreciate not for everyone.

I have not changed my van for years for the same reasons short front seats and wasted space with over large toilet/shower compartments
why the makers think we need so mutch of the vans space for a bathroom beats me??????
And why dont they make a double bed that folds out at the push of a lever or button.
in all fairness there are only so many things you can do with the average caravan to make it seem "better".. something that has to be done to keep selling new caravans..
my van is twenty years old.. i look at new vans and apart from fashion changes nothing else much has changed..
any new bits can easily be retro fitted to an existing van at a far lower cost than swapping it for a new one..
my sympathies are with the makers.. they do have problems on their hands..
