I had an idea the other night. It might be silly, but it came to me in a dream.
Imagine taking a van like a Renault Traffic. Then making a box that fitted in the back that was almost the same size as the van itself. Then when you got to a camp site you would jettison the box and that would become your caravan.
Then you would have an empty van to drive about in, dine in, store things etc. The box could be just to sleep in and like a base to return to. There would be no towing limits or the difficulties of towing (which can be a problem for younger drivers).

The only issue for new drivers regarding towing is the 3500kg gross trainweight limit.
Your idea still falls on that 3500kg figure. The loaded vans gross weight cannot exceed 3500kg. But you have a heavier vehicle to start with.
You can get a sub 1500kg car and tow plenty of vans around 1300kg.
The van maybe 1800kg with a driver and fuel giving you less carrying capacity than towing with a car.
The van will also restrict you in other areas also.

No because you 'tow' a fifth wheel. I'm talking about something 'inside' the van that gets ejected at your sleeping point. i.e. it's not towed, it's transported within the van.
I'm not talking something massive to replace the caravan or campervan but something solid to say replace the tent but more rigid.
OK.
Have you calculated the weight limitations?
Have you taken into account the wheel arch intrusion?
How are you going to get it out and back in?
Where are the water, gas and electrics going to be?
How will you get enough headroom?
