I was on Google maps earlier with the wife and we were looking at driving times from our house to various cities in Europe and Asia.

Then we discovered that it seems to be impossible to plot a route that goes into or through China.

To figure out the distance to Beijing we had to find a place directly north of it in Russia and plot to there.

Does anybody here know why you can't get routes within china's borders?

A search of the net turns up nothing and there are routes on the net posted a few years ago that went into china so obviously at some point you could.

My sat nav only covers Europe so I can't check it on that.

You would need to investigate the legality of driving foreign registered vehicle in China & so on. We in the EU are so used to driving over open borders we tend to forget it can take days or weeks in customs with payments to be made if you wish to bring your vehicle into some countries.

Yes Bernie they did for political reasons not only that my computer buddy says they have also banned windows 8 as it can be easily hacked for info on your computer.
