Had 2 offers accepted over the weekend, both same price.. was debating what to do.
So went to see the first one a 98', it has the layout and everything i wanted in it, especially the l shaped seating, as usual described as damp free.
Luckily just bought a meter, a few spots 15/18, but the back corner in the wardrobe was 42% and the front corner on the same side was the same, but the meter prongs almost went through the board it was really wet. Looked like it had been sat for a while.
2 hr drive to see the one tomorrow, which is a '96. but with normal seating ( i could rebuild it into an l shape i suppose) has most if not all of what i wanted. That also says its dry, but has just been serviced.
tough choice but i think im leaning towards the 2nd one(if its dry), even if it is older and has less features than i wanted, although i could add them. If its not dry then i dont know
Im probably going to reseal the caravan if i get one, but just wasnt too keen on ripping half of it apart right away..

Got to agree with Jeff.
Plenty of vans to choose from and there are dry vans out there so don't buy a damp one unless you can do the work and get it at the right price.
Good time of the year to buy one but you have to consider the moisture in the air (but the prongs shouldn't go through the walls when testing).
Don't forget you do get what you pay for and it's better in my opinion to spend a few extra pounds and get a good van instead of a knackered one.
Just be carful as there are a lot of stories of people covering things up and traders pretending to be private.
When we bought ours it had been owned by the last owner for 7 years and was in great condition he was only the 2nd owner.
We didn't get what you would call a bargain but feel we got a very good van for a fair price.

Dont mind a bit of work, just wanted certain things on the next caravan that works for me, although your probably both right. If the one tomorrow is dry then it'll be worth it, but think i'll give the damp one a miss.
I can do the work, did it on the last one. but would rather just give it a full reseal, rather than ripping walls out, even if it does have most things i wanted.

Whenever you find a van you like at a price you like is the time to buy. I can't imagine people will sell cheaper when they are broke anyway. Surely they would want more.
Hope you put some proviso's on the offers.

Dont buy a van with damp it could be very costly to put right. If you can't find the right van you have time to save a bit more before summer.
Good Luck
