Just wanted to say hi to everyone but didn't really know where to post!
We have just bought an adria action she is currently in for a service and then we will be out in her as soon as possible, I can't wait.
Good to see there are quite a few meet ups arranged on here, we will certainly be joining in on a few of those.
Good choice Laura/Craig. We've had our Action for a couple of years now, best van we've ever had.
Mods, battery fitted together with a 'Smart charger'.
Also found the rear steadies difficult to engage being a long way under the body so fitted guide tubes, plastic pipe from B&Q, just shove the electric drill winder in the tube and it engages and winds without having to bend down.
You wont find an awning to fit owing to the body profile. The ones shown in the pictures are for the left hand drive continental model. One of the small lightweight porch awnings would probably fit cos they don't follow the roof profile.
Not too many Actions about, we,ve only seen one other on site since we've had ours and that was last year in Devon.
See pics of ours on profile.
Have fun and enjoy your van..........Mick
Forgot to say, welcome to ukcs and the forum
thank you for the lovely welcome, really am looking forward to getting out and about in adria!
She is originally from spain and has come with an isobella full awning and a smaller porch awning.
mickeyb - thank you for the tip re plastic tubing such a good idea as I did almost end up lying on the floor trying to get the back legs down! When she came over from spain she was converted from 13 pin back to 12v (car only) currently in for service and being converted back to 13 pin plus tow bar converter to run from a twin plug so we can run the fridge whilst driving, what is the smart charger? and would you recommend getting a battery, dealer said it would be a waste of time!?
You might as well have a 13pin socket fitted to you car, it only requires the two 7 core cables to be wired into 13pin socket. If you are going to stop at all times on campsites with ehu then no point in fitting a battery. If you are going to stop anywhere with no mains hookup then you need to fit a battery.
I would only get a battery if you are going to sites without ehu alot. I like to be free as it means you can get a pitch more easily in the summer weekends.
If your caravan is fitted with just a 12v transformer not suitable for battery charging as many continental spec caravans are then you will also have cost of fitting suitable transformer/charger as well as battery plus labour cost if you cannot diy.
i find it a bit odd that such a caravan comes without a battery fitted in the first place.. but then again i find lots of things a bit odd.. he he
in some ways its the small neat kind of touring van i would like to own.. much nicer looking than my box on wheels but i am sure i would find some snags with it.. not coming with a battery being the first one..
Battery is useful and allows the van to be somewhat more vesatile , able to use without ehu. Yours being an import has the door on the opposite side to mine therefore you have no awning probs like the uk spec.
The Smart charger keeps the battery topped up whilst on the drive at home. It's left plugged in and switched on all the time. The Smart charger does not overcharge and cook the battery but regulates automatically the charge. You don't really need a battery if you use only sites with ehu, but remember you can't run the fridge from the battery. The 12v setting on the fridge is for whilst in transit and drawing current from the car alternator, ie only on whilst engine is running. Personally I wouldn't be without a battery .
As for the tubes, I've done all four steadies, if you look at the pics on my profile you'll see the plastic pipe sticking out the rear.
As for the 13 pin, I have twin sockets on the car which I wont change as I also tow other trailers so I use a converter lead that has a 13 pin plug to fit the van at one end and has twin cables coming from it with the 12n and 12s plugs on............Mick
