We're hoping to have just a short break in the van where it's stored.

But according to reports from F & MIL who have their van sited there, we're expecting to find evidence of mice paying the van a visit while it's been in storage.

They've had them, but they were able get on top of them straight away....

Wonder what'll be in store for us then....

oooh good luck with that one! They are little terrors for damage to furnishings and piddle everywhere. Get onto it as soon as you can. Wire mesh over the air vents to stop them getting back in once evicted!

The best bet is to make sure they cannot get in in the first place. Go round with silicon sealer and check every hole where pipes or cables come through the floor. There is often enough space for mice to get up through these gaps.

Not worth worrying about before you get there - We found we had a holey awning thanks to mice or squirrels...

Got a holey groundsheet to match it now too

Fortunately they haven't got into the van yet - just the front locker

If you have electricity on the lock up you can buy a device that plugs into a socket and emits an ultrasonic noise which is inaudible to humans but drives mices and vermine crazey so the stay away.

Chalkie 56 never found one that works yet or maybe the mice around are way or any where else are deaf.
I posted early on this site about mice back end of last season.
Anybody who has a dog/'s will get mice. last outing 2014 vans both sides of my pitch had mice both had dogs.
MY Adria was mouse proofed when built all floor vents have s/s wire mesh less than 6mm on under side front locker also has same pipes /wires have grommets on underside
Found to be mouse proof but not ant proof. visited at Xmas but no signs of any four legged intruders.
Van stored next door had four and silly bitch gave them names where there is four will now be 104

For a few years now we have used one of those ultrasonic devices (Amazon) that is battery powered. It may be just down to luck, but we have not had problems with the little beggars and I know our "neighbours" at the storage site have had the little visitors, gnawing through upholstery and wiring.

Battery is replaced every 6 months and just left by the door of the van. We are also careful not to leave anything around they might wish to eat.

Hope I am not now tempting fate as the local field mice can cause so much damage if they do get in.

There are _supposed_ to be holes in the floor and they do a good job of keeping caravanners alive.

If you seal up all the holes any escaping butane or propane will be unable to escape.

By all means put some wire mesh over the holes, but don't block them.

Well, we're back...

We didn't find any evidence of mice.

But there was evidence of MOULD!!!!!

Not because of a damp leak, but because of a lack of what we think ventilation around the van and through the under seating lockers.

Bedding had patches of it here and there. But we managed over the weekend.

Brought it all home, to give it a hot wash and have left as much as possible 'open' for air flow.

Lesson learned I guess for when storing any fabrics over winter in the van.

Just needs a damn good clean.. It's filthy on the outside too.

Please read my post again. I said block the holes where wires and pipes come through, not the ventilation holes.
