Hello all,me the wife and 2 kids are looking to buy our first caravan and I stumbled across the below Bailey Senators for sale, I think I smell a rat or am I just being paranoid... I've seen 2 or 3 others at this kind of price (1 on Ebay) what do you think? Con artists??
Yes too cheap, obvious scams. The simple way of scam spotting if you do enquire is that buyer in some way will try to get payment before delivering caravan. Its pretty basic stuff that you do not pay for a caravan that you have not seen & checked.
The only way to buy a caravan is at seller's home or business premises, only pay once you have established seller has title & then tow caravan away soonest. With a caravan you are paying several £1000s for you need to do a Cris check yourself to ensure seller has title.

Tbf, that one may well be genuine in regard to it being a real caravan for sale. However it does look as if it might been used for residential use so it could be well worn. It would also be interesting to see results of Cris check for it as well.
If you are interested, speak to seller, if he has nothing to hide he will be happy to speak on the phone. The only way you would buy that is to arrive at seller's premises, pay cash & tow away, but only after it being clear on Cris.
Also worth pointing out, be careful when turning up to any caravan purchase with a large amount of cash on you. The way forward is to for at least 2 of you to arrive, you get out of car, check its all good & phone your friend to come back with cash if all ok.
Our first caravan was bought off a dealer. Like car show rooms they have stock of stuff they took in as trade in but keep out of the main display. I found the local dealer I dealt with was very fare in that as a first time buyer he talked us through the ins and outs of caravaning. 1st one cost less than a thousand and he gave us 3 months guarantee. Like he said no point in spending a lot if you or the better half is not going to like it. Less than a year later we where back and upgraded to a newer and bigger van. Not all dealers are rip off merchants, visit a few, pick their brains, see what is out there.
