Thinking of going to the caravan and camping show at the NEC next week but will have the kids with us. Has anyone been with kids before? Is there much to keep them occupied? They are 9 and 5. The 9 year old would be fine but I can see the 5 year old getting bored if there's nothing we can break it up with now and then
Have to agree with Llani, Julia - I think they probably would get bored with much of the show, though I see there's a Dogs' Agility event which might or might not be of interest.
Not ideal with kids unless older as there are kids activities, but it's things like rock climbing and abseiling. Then the problem is you spend ages waiting around their activities, rather than looking at what you went for.
We wouldn't go again unless we were buying a new caravan.
We have been going for the past few years with my children, who are now 8 and 10. There are things for them to do and the queue usually isn't too bad. We bargain with them ie if you behave while we look at xyz you can go on the bike course etc. My youngest loves camper vans so that is another bargaining too that we use. He just loves going inside all the camper vans. We take little fold up tripod stools (a couple of £ from go out doors) so the can sit down when legs get tired). There are always LOADS of well behaved children there. Give it a try. Our kids love it and are looking forward to going this year. Plus it teaches them a valuable life lesson of compromise.
Yes go with your children its a family show they had a beach area in Octoberober and toys to play with. I have two girls 5 - 4 and they loved it getting balloons and sweets and even looking at caravans and tents. We were there for 5 hrs and mine loved it
Caravaning is for FAMILIES
Take some food and drink and have a picnic there as food and drink is expensive
