Can you tell me - when booking a pitch on a campsite and they ask for the length of the caravan, is it the length with or without hitch?

The CC uses the "LOA" length overall, so includes the hitch; other sites could well be the same.

Body length, as opposed to LOA is used in legislation for use on the UK's roads, ie currently 7 metres for normal cars [sub 3.5 tonnes]

We tend to give overall length. As ours is 26ft, I like to give plenty of notice then the campsite owners can warn us of tight turns and easiest pitches etc.

We ask for overall length including tow hitch as our pitches are of varying depths and some are not suitable for longer units as Gail suggested with regard to tight corners or cul de sacs.

Anyone been to Haven (Devon Cliffs)?

I think everyone told lies on their outfits max length. Virtually everyone overhung the actual pitch.

One guy in a diy motorhome had a large box on the rear and that even overhung the parking space in front of the pitch.

Most sites dont have any issues, But some its the layout of the pitch.

Hi homebird sorry to inform you but it is the shipping length.
That is from front of tow hitch to rear end for pitches, storage, and transportation of your van.

The longer your van the more you will pay for storage and transportation, some farmers might not charge any more for storage.

But site owners have to know length to put you on correct sized pitch unless its just a field without any form of pitching or organised road ways.

that's odd because the caravan next to mine is a third the size! its got the same size pitch in the storage yard and we pay the same price as him, and its a cassoa gold storage site with proper roads too!, same on caravan sites, all the pitches there we have ever used we have had neighbours with smaller vans than ours (not hard as most are smaller) and again the pitch size is the same and funny but caravan club sites have decent roadways and not once have we ever stuck out into the road
