Hello

I am new to caravanning and have just bought an Elddis Firestorm/Avante 482. My problem is, is that it has an old Truma Carver water system with the compact housing. Therefore, it has no filter unit on it.

How do I filter my water with this system?

Do I need to buy a conversion kit?

I'd rather like to have my water filtered before drinking it, you see.

Oh, and hello everyone!

My first post and I'm already mithering you all with silly newbie questions.

Hi CG you could fit an in-line filter or as some people do just drink bottled water

We only drink bottle water, but if you want to drink water that has been through pipes you could use a filter jug.

Even with a water filter fitted, after seeing the antics of some campers at the water filling taps, we much prefare to drink bottled water.

In the past we have seen people to allow their dogs to drink directly from the tap and to lick the nozzle part, and even people to use the drinking water point on some sites, to rinse out their toilet cassette or refill their grey water tank to give it a rinse out, especially on smaller sites where the emptying point is just a lifted inspection grate, with no propper rinsing points like those found on the CC sites ect.

One trick for caravanners and campers with no water filter fitted is to use the specialist water purification tablets available at most large camping shops, they are not ideal as some do leave a slight taste in the water, but they make water safe for things like washing fruit and vegetables or cleaning your teeth ect, and of course its also important to flush through your caravans water system, including the water hog, with a sterilizing soloution every few weeks.

Jeeze! I will not be drinking any water from campsite taps after reading this. I will be doing a lot of "Wild Camping" where there are no shops or services, so hoped to be able to drink any water that came from the aqua roll, rather than also carry lots of bottled water too (weight being a major issue).

Probably best just to use water purification tablets for things like washing fruit and vegetables and cleaning my teeth and bottled water for drinking. There doesn't seem much point in changing my water system either.

Thanks for all the replies
