HAVE YOU BEEN PAYING ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS ASSUMING THAT WHEN CALLED UPON ,YOUR TRACKER WILL BE ACTIVE??
I FOUND THIS NOT TO BE THE CASE, THE UNFORTUNATE WAY.
After having caravan stolen end of january, notified tracker uk and was told the tracker was activated. However, it has come to light that the unit was not responding to tracker when they tried to communicate with it in november 2014, yet they failed to notify me of this problem until the day after i reported it stolen.
might be worth anyone with the same device to call tracker and ask them to prove theirs is responding before they experience a loss like myself.
Has anyone else expereinced this same problem or have i just bought this problem to light
Hiya, I use the Tracker system and it is activated and works perfectly for me, I have just logged in to their dashboard and tracked the vehicle. I would be interested to read if your issues have happened to anyone else as I pay a lot for the service.
AS ITS A TRACKER RETRIEVE ITS ONLY REACTIVE SO NOT POSSIBLE TO TRACK PERSONALLY. NETHER THE LESS, THEY STILL CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE WHICH I EXPECTED TO WORK.
No, the caravan has still not been located. They later told me that the tracker had failed to respond in november yet hadnt informed me of this until the day after i reported it stolen. i do not believe it ever worked as they are refusing to send me a copy of the log which shows its communication with the control room.
The Tracker retrieve has a battery with a life of 4-5 years, if yours is around this age or older it might be the reason for it not being operational. There was a Thread in November where this issue was aired. Although if yours was this age they shouldn't have been still charging a subscription!
At 2 years old, this rules out this excuse. Even if this was the case, and they knew in november it wasnt responding, why did it take them 3 months to tell me.

Interesting post - we've a 2013 Sprite that came fitted with a Tracker Retrieve - we then paid the subscription once the introductory period ran out to cover it for 5 years.
Last week I got an email from Tracker to say that the tracker unit wasn't talking to their control centre as often as it should - I called them, and they have arranged for someone to come out to repair/service/replace it (free of charge) next week. (They assure me it is still responding, just not as reliably as it should)
I got the feeling this may be a common issue since the person I spoke to instantly guessed it was a 'Swift' caravan.
If the tracker was not responding when checked, the customer was not informed & when subsequently his caravan was stolen the tracker did not activate then presumably customer should get a full refund of all monies paid to Tracker?
Is op saying Tracker lied to him saying the tracker was activated after theft when it was not? What is state of play at the moment? They should be offering a refund, I would have thought?
Funnily enough mine was a 2013 sprite that was stolen. Seems like a problem with the units fitted at this time as another swift that had theirs replaced last week was a 2013. They were only notified recently too . Seems like after my loss they have acted fast to try to correct the problem. And yes Billy x, tracker did lie to myself and police after theft. Tracker not been responding since November yet they still went through the process of saying it had been activated. Still waiting for answers from tracker. I would suggest to anyone with a TR to check it's working.
We have a 2014 Swift which has this tracker fitted.
We too received an email from Tracker last week telling us that the unit was not responding as it should, and that they would send an Engineer to check the problem.
Hopefully they can get it sorted soon.
I took the 5 year subscription when we bought the van, but to be honest I didnt realise that this was only the 'retrieve' unit, and as our van is in storage away from home it is really worrying that we would not know if it had been stolen until we got to the storage to find it missing. I suppose we need to upgrade it really, we had the Phantom on the last van which was brilliant, with a text message and a phone call as soon as your van moves whilst the alarm/tracker is still on (yes, we activated it a few times by mistake ! :( )
Seems Tracker may have a big issue! Been out to ours today, but they don't know where the Trackers are hidden on the vans, so are having to just fit new units into the vans.
They were talking big numbers of units to be replaced on vans of a similar age!
